Music tourism to pop historic places is getting more important. For this reason, Düsseldorf Tourismus GmbH invited experts of music tourism and followed the footsteps of NEU!, Kraftwerk, and Die Toten Hosen. As an important service for music fans, a new online guide was presented which lets visitors experience the "Sound of Düsseldorf".
Those following the trails of pop music in Düsseldorf can now head for 15 important stops of music history. Intersting stories, historic pictures, and the music of Düsseldorf's groups are awaiting the visitors. Düsseldorf Tourismus is responding to the increasing demand by music fans especially from Great Britain or the USA. The online guide can be found in German and English on the website of Tourismus NRW: https://www.nrw-tourismus.de/soundofduesseldorf#dersoundofduesseldorf
The online guide leads visitors to relevant places of pop music and is telling their stories. From a former recording studio until the record store, there are more than 150 stops in Düsseldorf, Cologne, and the Ruhr area. The integration of the streaming service Spotify turns the digital guide into a real music guides with numerous matching songs. Statements and videos by the artists give impressions of the nighlife by day.
"Kraftwerk and Düsseldorf are a connection just like the Beatles and Liverpool", says Lord Mayor Thomas Geisel. "More and more people want to see and experience the origins of their favourite music. I am pleased that we could show numerous international tourism experts how Düsseldorf is getting its pop music history across to tourists. Music tourism is a great gain of cultural life and the music scene itself is the perfect ambassador for the state capital Düsseldorf."
