New weekly city tour is showing Düsseldorf's modern architecture
Düsseldorf has a lot to offer in architecture. With the new city tour "From modernity into the future - Icons of Architecture in Düsseldorf", the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia is turned into a walkable museum. From now on, Düsseldorf Tourismus offers the commented tour on a weekly basis with prior registration. The city thereby answers the rising demand for special themed tours, as they did before with respective offers for fashion and food, which are very popular with Düsseldorf citizens and tourists.
The architecture tour is telling the stories behind the well-known facades of the city. From Königsallee through the historic city centre up to the Ehrenhof, the tour is visiting iconic buildings of the Rhine metropolis. Ole Friedrich, Managing Director of Düsseldorf Tourismus, says: "We don't want to show abstract buildings from afar, but modern architecture that can be touched. In Düsseldorf, it is possible to discover a lot of different architectural styles at a relatively stort distance."
Masters like Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Wilhelm Kreis, Bernhard Pfau, Helmut Hentrich, or Daniel Libeskind, who left their traces in Düsseldorf, receive special attention in the tour. Eye-cathers such as Kö-Bogen, Dreischeibenhaus, or K20 are also newly presented from a photographic perspective.
